One Global links up with the John Speak Trust in its centenary year.

The John Speak Trust provides Language Scholarships to fund overseas travel for the purpose of studying a language. The trust was founded in 1924 when Bradford visionary and "wool baron" John Speak donated notable funds to the Bradford Chamber of Commerce. He assigned these funds for the purpose of financially aiding students to travel abroad in order to improve their language abilities. 

The trust is celebrating 100 years of providing support for language driven individuals. Throughout the century that the trust has been active, hundreds of students have received funding that provided them with the opportunity to travel abroad and develop their language skills, equipping them for a future career in a field of their choosing.

The promotion of modern languages to young people in the UK is a valuable cause as a skill which increases employability, alongside boosting salaries and job prospects by 35 percent. (Forbes). Post Brexit,  the Trust has become an even valuable source of funding for students.

Current recipients of the John Speak Trust are dotted all around the world.  Destinations  include China, Taiwan, Chile, France, Spain, Germany.  All language requests and country destinations are considered by the committee.
